Since 1997, Heidekreis-Klinikum have functioned as two hospitals sharing one administration. The original goal of their merger was to optimize operations, improve patient services and reduce costs — something easier said than done.

The Solution
With the implementation of a new shared electronic archive, the hospitals have become more closely connected. Nextway implemented a user-friendly, reliable solution with the necessary data security. Now doctors, medical staff and administrative personnel at both hospitals can always access the necessary information when they need it.
The Next® solution is fully integrated with the hospitals’ existing data system (KIS) via a HL7 interface. Authorized personnel have up-to-date access to any patient journal the instant a medical journal is modified. In addition, a digital signature and time stamp are incorporated in every update and amendment, providing a complete, traceable medical history.
